Web Solutions Plays Santa for Girls Incorporated

Web Solutions recently partnered with Girls Incorporated of Meriden to spread holiday cheer to a local family in need.

Staff members at Web Solutions participated in Girls Inc.'s Holiday Giving Program, collecting the items on one young girl's Christmas list, including clothing, toys, games, and holiday decorations.

The Holiday Giving Program, in which both companies and individuals may participate, was already a tradition when Michelle Bourdeau, Executive Director of Girls Inc, joined the staff six years ago. She emphasized that the program "helps make a huge difference for the kids. Now they'll be able to have a great holiday."

While there has been no shortage of community outreach this holiday season, programs such as the one offered by Girls Inc. may now be more important than ever. Bourdeau reported that 2010 saw an increase in the program's participation, noting, "In these trying times it's not that hard to find a family [to sponsor], unfortunately. Everybody is in need."

This week, the girls' parents will be able to pick up the gifts at Girls Inc.; for those parents unable to do so, staff members will deliver the gifts. Both wrapping and opening the presents at home, Bourdeau explained, allows families in need to enjoy "the same traditions" as other families.

Web Solutions has previously collaborated with the local chapter of Girls Inc.; however, this was the first time the company has participated in the Holiday Giving Program. Monica Golino, Web Solutions' Human Resources Professional, commented that "the entire team was really excited to be able to sponsor a family and give back to the community this Christmas season. It feels amazing to have made such a huge difference for one family."
